Academic Decathlon Team Wins First Place
Over the weekend, the North Clarion Academic Decathlon Team competed at Seneca Valley at the regional competition. The team earned first place in small schools and earned 34 individual medals, earning medals in every event and having each team member earn at least one medal.
Brandon Ochs had the highest score on the team and won 6 medals: golds in essay, economics, and mathematics; and silvers in art, literature, and science.
Sophia Wise earned 7 medals: golds in economics and science; silvers in music, art, and literature; bronzes in speech and social science.
Kaitlyn Zona earned 5 medals: golds in speech and mathematics; bronzes in art, literature, and economics
Jack Maxwell earned 4 medals: golds in art, literature, and interview; silver in science
Sarah Zona earned 3 medals: golds in art and speech; silver in literature
Eva Beck earned 3 medals: bronzes in art, interview, and speech
Allison Ochs earned 3 medals: golds in economics and math; bronze in science
Gwen Griebel earned 2 medals: bronzes in music and economics
Jack Pappas earned 1 medal: silver in interview
The team will be moving on to states next month for a chance to earn a spot at Nationals.
